Yesterday, I Sinned Against The Lord

by | Dec 31, 2019

I offended God. I did something I knew to be wrong. Because my heart is calloused, I went to bed with that sin unconfessed and slept in the trough like an animal accustomed to foulness. But when I arose this morning, the Lord confronted me and brought me to repentance. By His Spirit He reminded me of 1 John 1:9 and it gave me courage to fall down before Him and own my sin. I claimed God’s merciful justice in striking down His own precious Son on my behalf and the sufficiency of His blood to purify me from my unrighteousness.

Then, you know what God did? He lifted me from the floor and took me out to breakfast. He painted a beautiful sunrise that could not be missed as I turned my head to the east. He told me that He loved me and asked me how He could bless my day.

“What, my son, are you going to do with this day I have given you? How can I help and encourage you in the tasks of the day?”

This is what He said to the man who had just offended him! This is how He responded to my confession.

Marvelous grace of our loving Lord, grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt, yonder on Calvary’s mount outpoured, there where the blood of the Lamb was spilt.

Grace, grace, God’s grace, grace that will pardon and cleanse within; grace, grace, God’s grace, grace that is greater than all our sin.

Even a heart as hard as my own cannot refrain from singing His praises. O, for the day we will be saved to sin no more. And until that day…

Praise the LORD.

Praise the LORD, O my soul. I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
